An article caught my eye on the front page of the Star dated Nov. 23 about a foster mom in need of help. I am not opposed to helping any one that really needs help such as the homeless and those who cannot get government assistance.
However, I need someone to explain to me, after looking up what foster parents get paid per child from the state ($887per child under 11 and $902 per child 12 and up), why do foster parents get SNAP. I happened to raise three children, take care of the house payment, pay the electric bill and put gas in my car to go to work all on about the same amount without receiving one dime from the government.
Don't get me wrong, I understand people in need of help, but, just maybe in should be in money management.
