GREENSBORO — On Sunday, residents, friends, family and individuals from several states came together to support the Puckett family at the Mason and Bentley Puckett Funeral Fundraiser at Greater Impact in Greensboro.
Mason, 1, and Bentley, 3, died on June 29 in an accidental drowning, according to the Caroline County Sheriff’s Office. Less then two days after the tragic news was broken, business owners and residents rallied together to create meal trains and events in support of the Puckett family.
The community event Sunday was started by Victor Reynolds, head of communications for CASA of Caroline and Owner of Bayside Hotdogs.
“The event went amazing,†Reynolds said. “The amount of people that showed up was well more than I expected.â€
While some vendors backed out of the event just hours before, Reynolds and over a dozen other businesses pulled together and held a community event filled with fun for kids and adults.
Reynolds said attendance exceeded hundreds. They received donations from neighboring states.
All proceeds, which were estimated at over $5,000, went to the Puckett Family. The family attended the event all day and brought tables to help set up early.
“To every vendor, volunteer, friend, family member, and supporter who came out for the Bentley and Mason Memorial, we are truly overwhelmed with gratitude,†Father, Michael Puckett said in a Facebook post following the event.
Puckett also thanked Reynolds for his help setting up the event.
“Just to let you know it was still a great turn out thanks to Victor,†Puckett said in the Facebook post. “That man is a God sent and he deserves everything for this. I can’t thank Victor Reynolds enough.
“Your presence, your love, your donations, your time, and your kindness meant the world to us during such a heartbreaking time,†the post continued. “Seeing so many people come together in honor of Bentley and Mason was powerful beyond words. You helped turn a day of pain into a moment of remembrance, love, and unity!â€
