EASTON — Deputies from the Talbot County Sheriff’s Office made several arrests in the last week of December, catching fugitives from the law and netting charges of assault and marijuana possession.
• On Friday, Dec. 15, police responded to the 29000 block of Backtown Road, Trappe, for a reported medical emergency related to controlled dangerous substance use.
Police said Keiford Lee Copper III, 18, of Trappe refused treatment from Emergency Medical Services on the scene. During the investigation, deputies found prescription pills, which were not prescribed to anyone at the residence, and marijuana, police said.
Police said Copper was arrested and charged with possession with the intent to distribute a controlled dangerous substance and possession of marijuana.
He was issued a civil citation for possession of marijuana, taken before a district court commissioner and held without bond at the Talbot County Detention Center.
• On Sunday, Dec. 17, police stopped a motor vehicle on Cordova Road at U.S. Route 50 for an equipment violation. Police said the driver of the vehicle was Jaydan Tytre Cabarris, 19, of Felton, Del.
Police said during the investigation deputies found a small container of an alcoholic beverage and issued Cabarris a civil citation charging him with underage possession of alcohol. He was released upon his signature.
• On Saturday, Dec. 23, police arrested Cassandra Marie Alexander, 31, of Easton on a violation of probation bench warrant.
Police said Alexander was taken before a district court commissioner and released on her personal recognizance.
• On Monday, Dec. 25, deputies stopped a vehicle on Route 50 near Idlewild Avenue for a suspended registration.
Police said the driver, Patrick Thomas Guzi, 56, of Princess Anne, had an outstanding bench warrant issued from Somerset County for failure to appear at a scheduled court hearing.
Police said Guzi also had two outstanding fugitive warrants for failure to appear in Accomack County, Va. He was arrested and ordered held at the Talbot County Detention Center pending extradition to Virginia.
• On Monday, Dec. 25, deputies responded to the 12000 block of Church Lane in Cordova for an assault involving a knife.
Police said Stephanie Nichole Sard, 28, of Easton said she had been arguing with David Lee Carroll, 29, of Cordova when he pulled a hunting knife out and tried to cut her with it.
Sard was able to escape without injury and contact the sheriff’s office. Police said Carroll was found and arrested on a first-degree assault charge. He was ordered held at the Talbot County Detention Center without bond by a district court commissioner.
• On Friday, Dec. 29, deputies arrested Lateasha Shanise Macer, 26, of Cambridge. Police said a district court bench warrant had been issued for Macer for failure to appear in court on Tuesday, Dec. 26, for charges of knowingly driving an uninsured vehicle.
Macer was taken before a district court commissioner and released on her personal recognizance.
• On Saturday, Dec. 30, deputies stopped a vehicle in the area of Chapel Road and Honeysuckle Drive, in Easton, for an equipment violation.
Police said upon contact with the driver, Cristian Johan Matute-Lopez, 20, of Easton, deputies developed probable cause to conduct a search of the vehicle.
During the investigation, police said, deputies found marijuana and paraphernalia.
Police said a passenger in the vehicle, Mauro Garniga-Alvarado, 21, of Easton, also was in possession of marijuana.
Police said both Matute-Lopez and Garniga-Alvarado gave false identification to the deputies, but further investigation led to their true identification.
Matute-Lopez was charged with possession of marijuana, giving a false name to a police officer and driving without a license. Garniga-Alvarado was charged with possession of marijuana. Both were released upon their signatures to appear in court.
