OXFORD — The Oxford-Bellevue Ferry Talbot was removed from service last week due to a progressively worsening noise coming from the propulsion system, according to a press release.
The JettyLight team of captains Yusmani Garcia and Eric Neustadt, along with JP and Associates LLC Principal Captain John Pepe, delivered the vessel to Yacht Maintenance Company in Cambridge for evaluation.
Following the successful drydocking of the vessel on Tuesday, July 23, the Yacht Maintenance, JettyLight, and JP and Associates teams are now reviewing supply, delivery and installation lead times for replacement parts to identify how long the ferry’s removal from service is likely to be.
Once the community impact is understood, updates in the ferry timeline will be shared on social media, through the Talbot County Economic Development team and on the ferry’s automated phone system at 410-745-9023.
As the oldest privately operated ferry in the United States, the Oxford-Bellevue Ferry has provided service across the Tred Avon River since 1683, serving as a vital transportation link for residents, tourists and businesses alike.
