As the year comes to a close, CASA of the Mid-Shore proudly celebrates over 35 years of service to children in foster care and the dedicated community that has made this work possible.
CASA of the Mid-Shore serves children under protection of the Circuit Courts in Talbot, Dorchester, Queen Anne’s and Kent counties due to abuse or neglect.
Court Appointed Special Advocate volunteers make a world of difference by speaking up for children’s needs, safety and futures, CASA of the Mid-Shore said in a press release.
Since 1990, CASA has expanded its footprint and impact by training new volunteers, strengthening partnerships with local agencies, and adapting to meet the evolving needs of children and families.
For more than three decades, CASA volunteers have supported children navigating the complexities of the child welfare system, offering stability, compassion, hope and a consistent voice in court. They remind each child that their life matters and that they are not alone.
Research confirms that children are more hopeful when CASAs are part of their lives. CASAs help ensure every child’s voice is heard and each decision made on their behalf keeps their best interests at heart.
“Hope grows when a child who has experienced abuse or neglect is understood and supported,†the press release said. “Hope deepens when that child knows they matter and that a Court Appointed Special Advocate stands by their side.â€
