EASTON — An air conditioning issue in the Talbot County Courthouse on Tuesday will close Circuit Court and postpone the County Council's meeting amid a scorching heat wave.
The Talbot County Council will not meet Tuesday as originally planned due to an air conditioning "malfunction," the county stated Tuesday morning.
The council was scheduled to hold its bimonthly legislative meeting at 5 p.m. in the Talbot County Courthouse's Bradley Meeting Room. It will be rescheduled for Tuesday, July 1 at 5 p.m.
Beginning at noon, Circuit Court will be closed and any court proceedings will not be held as scheduled. County officials added that the following offices will close at noon:
Administrative services.
County manager's office.
County attorney's office and liquor board.
Clerk of the Court.
Finance office.
Technical services in the south wing.
Register of Wills.
In an email Tuesday, the county said the courthouse's HVAC system is currently under repair.
The National Weather Service issued an extreme heat warning Tuesday for Maryland, which will remain in effect until 8 p.m. Wednesday. Heat index values in Easton are expected to surpass 105 degrees.
