CENTREVILLE — Furthering its mission to support the community and make a difference in individual lives every day, non-profit Tides of Grace celebrated Giving Tuesday by welcoming an essentials stocked crisis room at its Community Resource Center Dec. 2.
Created to bring hope, comfort and immediate support to those facing some of life’s toughest storms, the private emergency crisis room is stocked with brand-new essentials including clothing, food, diapers, wipes, formula, toiletries, and hygiene items to offer compassion, care and dignity to those in need.
“It’s going to be a beautiful space that will allow us to serve the community in a fast manner when somebody is in crisis, whether they are fleeing from domestic violence, homeless, down on their luck, or experiencing hardships,†Executive Director Leann Rhodes said.
The space was dedicated to Tracy Mills and her health and human service management consulting company, J29.
Aligning seamlessly with the mission of Tides of Grace, J29 serves as sideline angels in supporting the community seen and unseen, Rhodes said. J29 stands for Jeremiah 29:11, a promise of hope, future, and purpose, which reflects a perfect foundation for a room designed to restore exactly that, according to Rhodes.
From painting to organizing, community support readied the new space every step of the way, she said.
“Thank you for standing with us, giving with us, and believing in this mission. Tonight was filled with grace, hope, and community, and it’s only the beginning,†Rhodes said.
More than just fundraising, Giving Tuesday is about strengthening the heart of a community, Rhodes said, and for nonprofits like Tides of Grace, it is especially a day to highlight why its work matters and how, together, real change can be created for families facing hardship.
“When the waves rise and life feels unsteady, we want our community to know: Tides of Grace will always be an anchor of hope,†she said.
The Tides of Grace Resources Center is located at 207 N. Liberty St. in Centerville.
