EASTON — On June 20, the Mid-Shore Board of Realtors awarded its 50th down payment grant to first time home buyers Christopher and Sarah Bergling.
The buyers’ agent was Penny Introcaso with Benson & Mangold, who worked with the couple for over a year to help them find their dream home. The mortgage lender was Trent Riggs with Main Street Home Loans, and Sarah Whitby with Sarah Settlements provided the settlement service.
The grant program, launched in May 2023, has made a significant community impact by providing $50,000 in grants to 50 homeowners, helping them with their closing costs.
Christopher Bergling is self-employed and works in HVAC in Dorchester County, and Sarah Bergling works with Choptank Transport in Easton. The couple noted they were grateful for the financial help as home prices continued to increase.
Megan Rosendale, MSBR former president who started the down payment grant program two years ago, said, “Incredible that this was once a pipe dream of mine, and now thanks to all MSBR’s fundraising efforts…we have given $50,000 back into our community to promote local homeownership. I am grateful that I could be there today to celebrate with the Berglings.â€
